Despite keeping the squad as it was, Liverpool would start the 1965/66 season much better than they had the previous one. By the time they went away to Stamford Bridge in December, they were already top of the league, on a six-game unbeaten run.
Their opponents Chelsea had been title challengers and League Cup winners under Bill Shankly’s friend Tommy Docherty the previous season, however an incident after losing to Liverpool at Anfield saw a scandal erupt, and things wouldn’t be quite the same for the Blues.

Would love to see any pics from the Liverpool 2 Chelsea 1 match at Anfield on Boxing Day 1966. I attended the game with my father and always like to have a pictorial reminder of any game I attended wih him.
I use LFC History to get information together for pretty much every episode and usually it has newspaper clippings, but for the Boxing Day match it only has the programme cover. Sadly it seems this era can be a bit hit and miss as to whether they sent photographers to a game.
