Video: A Tactical History of Liverpool, Episode 5: Internazionale – Liverpool 1965, European Cup 64/65

Just days after winning the FA Cup, Liverpool were due to face Helenio Herrera’s Internazionale in their European Cup semi-final.

Inter were at their peak. They were the reigning World and European champions, while they were about to be named Italian champions too, whereas Liverpool had finished seventh in the league and this was their first season in Europe.

With the roar of Anfield behind them, Liverpool played with twelve men at home, however for the away leg it is alleged that Inter had a twelfth man of their own.
