
After another trophyless season, a loss in the 1971 Charity Shield was the final straw for Bill Shankly. For the first game of the league, he would drop his stuttering attack and replace them with a new signing by the name of Kevin Keegan, firing the young Doncaster lad to superstardom.
However, a week later, Liverpool would be on the receiving end of a home debut to remember.
