Liverpool were long out of the title race, but they would have a say in where the league championship ended up when they made the trip to play Manchester United in April 1965.
Needing to avoid injuries with the FA Cup final and important fixtures in the European Cup coming up, Bill Shankly’s side to face Matt Busby’s United wasn’t the strongest as his close friend was looking to win his first league title since the Munich Air Disaster.
