The move starts with a long ball forward to Edin Dzeko, who spreads the ball out to Stephan El Shaarawy on the left. Inter’s backline has dropped off to ensure the ball can’t be played in behind them, giving El Shaarawy time to control the ball and get running at Danilo D’Ambrosio.

El Shaarawy runs with the ball as if he can go either way, but it’s quite obvious from his body language that he intends to cut inside onto his favoured right foot, his chest facing inside.

D’Ambrosio fails to read this though: his body shape is good to lead El Shaarawy down the line, but his positioning blocks the space in front of the attacker rather than cutting off the space inside. El Shaarawy cuts inside with ease, losing D’Ambrosio as the defender is unable to turn and get a foot near the ball.

Matias Vecino comes across to cover but El Shaarawy fakes a shot. Vecino puts a foot out to stop it only for El Shaarawy to continue his run, opening up space for him to lift a shot over Samir Handanovic.
