Willie Stevenson was the precursor to Graeme Souness at Liverpool: a Scot with a taste for the finer things in life, he provided a touch of class on the pitch too after his arrival from Rangers. With exquisite passing and clean control that contrasted with his willingness to get muddy defensively, he is, alongside midfield partner Gordon Milne, one of the most underrated players in the club’s history.
