What’s your ideal 5-a-side team?

The internet has opened up a huge range of potential options for the football fan. Within minutes we can be checking the latest news about our team, scouting players on YouTube and discussing them on a message board. There is one thing that may well trump them all – the opportunity to prove that you know more than your friends through Fantasy Football.

Fantasy Football has become a staple of the modern football of the modern football experience, however Mirror Football have come up with something slightly different: a free facebook fantasy 5-a-side football game in association with Renault. Pick your team, set up your mini-league and invite your mates at: www.mirror.co.uk/goals.

With just five players, the quality of your talent-spotting becomes even more key and will separate the brain-boxes from the simply lucky. All you need to do is pop over to the Mirror Football website and sort out a team made up of Europe's best to get started.

Rather than simply handing out tips we'll be examining who's deserving of a place in a Premier League five.

With just five players to choose from, the defender will almost definitely need to get involved in build-up play. Unfortunately such players have been few and far between in English football, but Rio Ferdinand is certainly one – as elegant with the ball as he is a good defender.

In midfield, we have Patrick Vieira and Jay Jay Okocha. Vieira brings muscle to a somewhat flimsy side, as well as his intelligent lateral passing, while the most super of Super Eagles Okocha brings the silky skills that makes 5-a-side so brilliant.

Up front, the stocky Gianfranco Zola and his sublime close control would set up hundreds of chances for Robbie Fowler, whose supernatural finishing ability often overshadows his excellent link-up play.

Agree or disagree, post your thoughts and your own Dream Teams. And for those of you looking for more than a role as a would-be scout, there is also Football Manager in advance with Mirror Football.
